St. Paul's Episcopal Church was the first Episcopal congregation established in the state of Indiana. At a meeting on July 19, 1834, the Parish of St. Paul's, New Albany came into existence. The present church building was completed in 1895. It was consecrated on April 17, 1905.

In 1960, a down payment was made to the Schantz Organ Company on the current pipe organ (to replace the 1907 Pilcher). The building of the organ by the Schantz Company and remodeling of the chancel to accommodate it were time consuming and installation was not completed until 1963. It was dedicated in 1964.
