History: Christ Church was consecrated by the Bishop of Indiana, the Rt. Rev. George Upfold, DD., on February 31, 1848.

The cornerstone of the Christ Episcopal Church in Madison, Indiana, was laid on October 31, 1848. The gothic revival church was dedicated on February 7, 1850.

It is documented that the sister of Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of President Abraham Lincoln, attended this church and was thought to be organist as well on a previous instrument.
